We spent 5 nights at The Cliff Santorini, and we definitely wished we stayed more! Our apartment was very spacious and cleaned daily, it also had a small kitchenette which was very handy. The views of the coast are breathtaking and it's the perfect spot to enjoy the incredible sunset. The owner/manager Marcos is the friendliest person on Earth, and he made our stay even easier making himself available whenever needed, booking tours for us, printing boarding passes and giving us all sort of advice. If needed him and his family can also prepare breakfast for you. The nearby traditional village is lovely, with several eating options and a few shops. Better to have a car or scooter to get around the island. Perfect spot if you want to be away from the crowds. Thank you so much…

~Location~ To be honest I booked this hotel by accident (on a non-refundable rate so I couldn’t change it) but I’ve tried to be as fair as possible in my review since it was my mistake. If you want to be able to see a sunset from your hotel that isn’t in the crazy busy touristy end of the island, then you’re in the right place and on the correct (West) side of the island to do it. It is located South of Fira but still closer to the centre of curve than the bottom end. This end of the island is definitely quieter and away from the maddening crowds but close enough that if you want to do something in Fira/Oia, you can and then escape away from it all. Close to Red Beach. Don’t get me wrong, its not a long bus ride to Fira or a second bus to Oia, but if you have a car that would be strongly advisable since the buses do not run particularly frequently (especially since “peak” season was apparently “over” – although apparently no such thing in Santorini but anyway). The buses are easy and affordable to use and the bus stop is a short walk from the hotel however, if it is at night, a few things to note: 1) there is no street lighting for at least half the walk 2) there is no sidewalk and cars drive directly at you (ensure you use your flashlight on your phone to indicate where you are so as not to get run over) 3) scheduled buses may arrive much later and out of schedule so getting home much later than anticipated is not unusual. Just to emphasise though that as a solo female traveller, I never felt like I was in any danger walking home in the dark. My points above are simply to let you know to either hire a car or to ensure you are home before sunset if walking in those conditions is not your shot of ouzo

The place was very clean and comfortable. Amenities we're very well arranged. The host received us and provided for the basic food items. The reply to the messages were prompt and effective. The rooms were cleaned daily and thoroughly by the host mother. She even provided us with some of hers baked delites. Very convenient to go to black beach and Akrotiri. A little far from Oia. Host was available through WhatsApp always to answer any query we had. Very happy with the stay. Would like to visit again for a peaceful stay away from the mainstream tourist attraction.

Everything about our stay was great, from the room to the view outside. Markos greeted us as soon as we got off the shuttle and gave us a bunch of tips about what to do/where to eat nearby. The Megalochori village was smaller and a distance from the main town Fira. It was only two days so we were able to get everything we need, including water and snacks from a nearby super market. Our room was very clean and comfortable. The little kitchenette and fridge were very convenient. There was a lot of strategic counter space in the room as well as the bathroom.
